Strong Season Opener for BWT Lechner Racing in Monaco

BWT Lechner Racing enjoyed a positive start to the 2026 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season as the championship kicked off on the iconic streets of Monte Carlo. With strong performances across all three drivers, the team left Monaco with valuable points and plenty of confidence heading into the remainder of the season.

Returning to the venue of his victory twelve months ago, Robert de Haan lined up fourth on the grid for the season opener. After a close battle at the start, the Dutchman dropped one position but remained within striking distance of the front runners. Despite the challenges of overtaking around the narrow Monaco street circuit, de Haan fought his way back past Flynt Schuring to reclaim fourth place and secured solid points for the championship standings.

Robert de Haan: "P4 is not the result we fully hoped for comparing to last years win. We took some valuable points and next week is Barcelona, so now full focus on that. The championship is long, so we continue fighting and I'm sure we can do a good job next week."

Porsche Junior Marcus Amand delivered a solid performance in his first-ever race at the Circuit de Monaco. Starting from 12th on the grid, the Frenchman was able to gain one position during the race and finished just outside the top ten in 11th place. This result marked a successful debut at one of motorsport's most demanding venues.

Fellow rookie Caleb Sumich also enjoyed a strong race on his Monaco debut weekend. The young Australian moved forward from 15th on the grid to finish 13th, gaining valuable experience and demonstrating encouraging race pace throughout the event.

The race highlighted the importance of qualifying in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, particularly in Monaco, where track position is often decisive. With overtaking opportunities limited, all three BWT Lechner Racing drivers executed smart and controlled races, gaining positions where possible and bringing the cars home without damage.

Robert de Haan confirmed his position among the leading contenders in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, showing the pace and determination expected from a driver aiming to fight for race wins and the championship this season.

"Monaco 2026 is in the books and after Round 1 is before Round 2 - so now the season really can start! Happy with everyone in the team and already looking forward to go racing again on the upcoming weekend in Barcelona!" — Robert Lechner, Team Principal

With valuable championship points secured, the team now turns its attention to Barcelona, determined to continue its strong start to the 2026 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season. The second round will take place as early as next week from June 12th to 14th.
