A successful weekend at the Hungaroring comes to an end for BWT Lechner Racing. The Salzburg-based team celebrated with Marcus Amand its 13th win in the 25th Supercup race held on the historic Budapest circuit.

Porsche Junior Marcus Amand was the standout performer of the entire weekend. Robert de Haan also picked up valuable points for himself and the team in the fight for the championship.

Amand laid the groundwork already on Friday with a solid P6 in free practice. What followed was an outstanding qualifying session on Saturday and a thoroughly deserved pole position – a first in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup for the Finn, and the best possible starting point for Sunday's race. Amand made the most of it like a true champion: in a dramatic race marked by several retirements and a Safety Car period, he took a commanding lights-to-flag victory. It was his very first podium finish – and he went straight to the top step. On top of that, he also set the fastest lap of the race, crowning a truly dominant weekend.

“This weekend was simply perfect for me. I already had a really good feeling in the car in qualifying, and in the race I was able to confirm that from the first lap to the last. Robert de Haan also put in an impressive performance. After a difficult qualifying session, in which he had to abandon one of his two flying laps after a spin ahead of him, he could only manage P8. As a competitor was later awarded back a deleted lap time, the Dutchman ended up starting from P9. With a strong start and a well-judged move after the Safety Car period, de Haan quickly worked his way up to P5. He then fought a gripping battle with the car ahead of him for the remainder of the race, clearly having the better pace. But with overtaking notoriously difficult on the tight and twisty Hungaroring layout, there was ultimately nothing more to be gained. P5 nonetheless brings de Haan and the team valuable points in both the drivers' and the team championship.

Caleb Sumich once again put in a solid performance, holding his own in a hard-fought midfield battle. Starting from P16, he was rewarded with a solid P12 at the finish.

With Marcus Amand's maiden win and Robert de Haan's successful recovery drive, the team heads into a well-deserved summer break in high spirits. Next up is the Netherlands from August 21–23: Circuit Zandvoort hosts a double-header, meaning double points will be on offer that weekend. Team and drivers will be giving it their all to collect more crucial points in the championship battle.
